ISIS’ CATACLYSMISM: A PHILOSOPHICAL APPRAISAL

By Dominic E.B. Anyalagbuna

1.0.ABSTRACT:
The very inhumane hazards of the so-called Islamic militant group named ISIS are indeed highly cataclysmic! However, this paper is faced with the problem of undertaking a philosophical examination of the named group. This, the paper does, using the critical-evaluative method by considering their history, aims and activities. Upon this examination, this work discovers that, among other relevant theories, this rebel group seems to be operating on the Transcendental Idealism of Immanuel Kant which states that ‘only ideas in the mind exist,’ though one cannot absolutely arrive at it. This theory follows from the militants’ idea of Muhammad’s prophecy that ‘there will be a time when the whole world will be subjected under a ‘caliphate,’ with a ‘caliph’ as their head. Nevertheless, in the end, this treatise highlights that the solution to ISIS’s crisis is mental and intellectual re-formation. In such-wise, this work adequately recommends an urgent mental re-configuration founded on re-interpretation of the Quran among these Islamic extremists, which

‘IRRELIGIOUS RELIGIOSITY’: A HORRIBLE CONSEQUENCE OF THE PROLIFERATION OF CHURCHES

BY: DOMINIC E.B. ANYALAGBUNA
1.0.Prolegomenon:
In his monumental work entitled Introduction to African Philosophy, the renowned scholar, John S. Mbiti vehemently submits that “Africans are notoriously religious…. Religion permeates into all the department of [their] life so fully that it is not possible to isolate it.” In furtherance of this view, Mbiti still aptly adds further that “wherever the African is, there is his religion: he carries it to the fields where he is sowing seeds or harvesting a new crop.” However, the truth of these statements can sufficiently be expressed in the ever increasing number of religious grounds in our time. In fact, multiplicity of churches is a fact, a truth! This diversity is pioneered by different reasons which may range from supernatural, financial, economic, or socio-political reasons. Moreover, man has sought for avenues to express his worship of God. Unfortunately, this has been done in questionable places. This has left man with a horrible phenomenon which may be termed ‘irreligious religiosity.’ Irreligious religiosity is a phenomenon exhibited by faithless, lazy and hollow spiritually-minded individuals who are externally looked upon as holy people by others whereas inside them is full of contradictory qualities. Consequent upon this, this work will expose the concept of irreligious religiosity under the factors that encourage the multiplicity of churches, causes and consequences, together with some possible remedy.

RELIGION AND DISUNITY OF LIFE: TRACING THE ROOT CAUSE OF KIDNAPPING, ROBBERY AND UNCHARITABLE INFLATION OF PRICE OF GOODS

BY: DOMINIC E.B. ANYALAGBUNA
1.0.        Preamble:
Indeed, the world today is greatly coloured by different religions spanning from Christianity, Islamic, African Traditional Religion, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, Confucianism, et cetera. However, it is important to note that each of these religions has adherents.  Besides, these religions deal with beliefs and practices. They have their doctrines, and codes of conduct that are inevitably imperative on the adherents, of course for their own good. Nevertheless, irrespective of the fact that there are many adherents of these multiple and diverse religions, it is quite irreconcilable seeing that our society is still notorious of, and traumatized by some ills like: kidnapping, robbery and uncharitable escalation of prices of goods in the market.  Therefore, the questions become, does it mean that these religions promote the practice of kidnapping or robbery? Or are they the cause of the adherents of these religions? And if the answer is in affirmative, why? Consequently, an investigation into these will constitute the task of this essay.

LET THERE BE BIAFRA

Introduction
Recently, there came to be an upsurge on the demand by the Igbos for a sovereign nation. It is not like this call for the Republic of Biafra is new, it has been there since the 1960s and even culminated into the civil way which lasted for three years. Many Igbos have pitched tenth with certain factions of the divide, what I would like to call ‘ndi kwe na ndi ekweghi’; that is those who believe in the indissolubility of Nigeria and those who are die hard supporters of the Biafran cause. There is still a third group, the disinterested observers who are keen on leaving their lives much like the stoics and who would naturally fit in to any side when the need for that arises.

UNDERCOVER BOSS; A TOUCHING EXPERIENCE!

Thanks to the Mobile Telephone Network (MTN), I set my hands with all concentration on my phone in search of a movie to download. As I went down the list, I saw this film, The Undercover Boss and I wanted to give it a try and it turned out to be one of the best choice of movies I have made.

The background of the movie was the economic recession in America, which caused some CEOs of multinational companies to the streets  as undercover employees to get first-hand information on the operational workability  of their companies. These men discovered so many things,  the good, the bad,  the beautiful and of course; the ugly.

A certain Man Prepared A meal.

Who would in the widest of his imaginations forget even after series of reminders that he was to be the Chairman of an occasion? What would be the justification for there to be no persons, family relations and friends who attended this occasion?

Here I am to reflect on one of the rampart cases of what I would like to call cultural enslavement: the Umuada Saga. I am not here to prescribe or proscribe, nor am I here to condemn or praise, I am here to open the eyes of many.

Rita, You're now popular; very popular.

You're now popular; very popular.

While you were here with us, you were very gentle and quiet, very calm with such smile that has the proficiency of  melting a stone in a sec.

Now, no student, no staff and no concerned individual will claim not to know your name, but, "they said you are dead", killed in a motor accident just opposite the school gate!

It took me much time to comment, I hesitated because I was waiting for news that what I heard was a false rumor, but alas, that is not the case.

What on earth will Efe do, when she comes to hear that that journey both of you set out together yesterday, both of you couldn't complete?

I cannot say goodbye nor rest in peace, you have to stay with us. Be an Angel watching over students crossing that death trap, until such time as when we will summon the courage to say farewell.

Goodluck Rita!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNUTY TO TOUCH ME!

The epilepsy of power distribution in this remote ‘loco’ – Ekosodin - has climaxed to almost everything not working. Everyone is complaining! The pacific atmosphere that nature ordinarily affords in wee, near-end and nocturnal hours is exchanged for uninteresting and inharmonious noise mixed with pungent smells of fumes produced by petrol engines. The fans are practicably not working. Charging of mobile phones becomes ‘wahala’ for those of us, short of ‘personal-power-supplying’ machine. These add up against palatable and tranquilized rest. Ironing of wears will be left for another story in days to come. Let’s leave it there!

SASSI, HOME ALWAYS

The Shakespearean writings were one of the best writings in his time and whose relevance is non - diminished till this moment. It is even becoming a very difficult thing for people of the new age to get to understand fully what Shakespeare wrote in his books.

"There is a tide in the affairs of men" This was one of the many remarkable lines found in the works of Shakespeare. Really, there was, is, and shall continue to be a tide in the affairs of men. As I think of it now, I remember that day of September precisely 7th, 2012. It was a day that set the tone for a tidal shift in my affairs as an individual.

The tide having set a different course, and with pressure on every side, I had to leave home, to calm my nerves and to forge ahead. I do not know if I should subscribe fully to Hard determinism; maybe not. For once, I came to know that there are other place that can be home. That was SASSI!

Arriving at Ikenga that Friday afternoon, I met one of the best of God's creatures: Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ibenegbu. His acceptance of my having to come by, the circumstances not withstanding, was most humane. I was set to arrive the next week Friday.

My arrival on that day was in the afternoon, I remember the joke, what I would like to call 'snake joke' made by Fr. Eva( he must have forgotten). Not so long after that, I was already entrusted with responsibilities, even before my official introduction. I remember it was on 4th October and the teachers received their salaries on that day.

At first, it was like being in another world, not on the part of having to be a teacher or an administrator, but on the part of the conditions and with whom the work had to be done. But, I had to assure myself that it is one task that cannot be ran away from.

The new hostel system was on stream, there was no such thing as hostel system before then, it was as such a very daunting task, one which was energy sapping and intellectually tasking. Wasn't my first time having to look after young people, but in that case, it wasn't in a very ordered ecclesiastical abode of learning cum training. It was in a very free world!

I had to adapt my way through a very strong resolve to make my own fair contributions to the success story of young people, and because of what I had passion for - teaching and learning. The Manager was of a very great help. He would say, "Nnaa, I know you're still a very young boy, but you can do this; gi na ya nuba". That assurance of one who has faith in you, your weaknesses not withstanding kept me going.

At first, it was only three teachers leaving inside the school, Mrs. Chinazo Nwizu, Mrs. Kenechi Kanu and me. They were very supportive and we made a wonderful team. With time, others came by and I must apologise if I omit a name, wasn't deliberate: Mr. Nnanyelu Egbe, Mr.Adewale Adebayo, Mr. Izunna Aniekwe, Mr. Philip Nwude, Mrs. Okeke Angela Onyeka, and others. The support of other staff notably Nze Raph, the Principal, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeobi, Mrs. Ebere Azike, Madam bursar, the cook, the driver, the gateman and the security man was overwhelming. The respect accorded me was worth appraising.

The daunting task of forming young minds was one very challenging thing I have got to do. Thank God we did it as we had to.

I was privileged to be a very inner part of the administration, management and organization of the school even in my inexperience. I got to become the Auxiliary One. Sassi, became my home!

The support I got from SASSI when a turbulent and emotionally disturbing period of my life - My Dad's death - was one I would never forget. SASSI has remained a home to me till this day. I was always welcomed each time I showed up, even at the slightest of notice.

The parents and the students were awesome. The respect they accorded me, and still do accord me humbled and humbles me. It was always home! Fr. Eva would always forget my time with the school as a permanent staff was over and each time I came he would always try to get me involved.

I guess that was because I was involved. I remember having to become the master of ceremony during the Christmas party. Before that time, I was yet to pick up a Mic in the name of an MC, I wasn't even sure I could be funny as an experienced MC, but Fr. Eva would not heed my excuses. "Anakwa m akwu onye obula one naira maka MC, GI na ya luba", he said. I thank him for seeing through me, the inert qualities and talents and helping me bring them to the fore. I also thank him for making SASSI a home, my home.

I promised myself I would always seek to do my best for the growth of this home. I also enjoin all persons here to see SASSI as home, home always and what we do to a home is to make it a better home. MAKE SASSI ONE IN ANY WAY YOU CAN!!!

NDIGBO; THE WAY FORWARD By James Onyebuchi, C.

ABSTRACT:
When it comes to marginalization in our country Nigeria, the Igbos, unarguably, are at the receiving end. This is further brought to light and greatly convinced by the little or few juicy projects executed by Government at the federal and the sheer starvation of key political office suffered greatly by Ndigbo after 45 years the war of Biafra came to a halt.  Amidst these, the persons of Igbo race, tongue and blood appear to be unmoved by the injustice. One wonders about the wherefore of the above assertion, as such, matter of facts. This Essay tries to study and cover the problems contributing to the political decline and lacuna suffered by Igbos and examines if there is any hope and way out. Though the approach is one sided – political to be sure- it yet covers the general interest of Ndigbo.

INTRODUCTION:
It is common-place knowledge that Ndigbo are people of the Southeastern states of Nigeria. The states include Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states. Ibo becomes a unifying language. Of the partiality suffered by Igbos, disturbing questions overtake my thoughts, suchlike: Are the Igbos generally unwilling to participate in matters of politics or is their unwillingness a matter of determinism? Are we bound by fetters of continuously supporting other regions or mainly guided by our conscience? Are there internal wrangling and discord that militate against the general interest of Ndigbo? Do Ndigbo lack the heavyweights and voices that could turnaround the fate that already lives with us? Does the 'fear of the unknown' from the Northern man overshadow and at the same time assault the Igbo man's interest politically? Have all our politicians adopted the philosophy of 'sit-don-dey-look'? What actually went and is going wrong? Do we continue this way? Are Igbos 'ofekes' and 'efulefus' that never knew when the wood of 'Ukwa' tree was shared, who will consequently be and always be 'ndi na amaghi ihe ana eme, ewere ha na eme ihe ana eme'. Are Igbos just spectators in the field of politics? Thanks to the thoughtful brain that gave birth to this wonderful topic as the next question continuously mocking my Igbo origin is perfectly couched in the topic. Thus, Ndigbo ibem, which way foreward?

“CHIMA EYIKWAM SHAA” – Chima I’m Wearing Nothing

Today, I recall with intense amusement my experience years ago, sometime in 2004; to be closer to precision.

I was an altar Boy, this some persons still call wrongly, “man servers”, the correct thing being Mass Servers. I joined late in 2013, August 16th to be exact. In my own local Parish, there was a very strict methodology of ascent through the rank and file of the Altar Servers, and as with other ecclesiastical associations and institutions, there was a very strict discipline and in our own case, this discipline can be very ‘hot’.

Someone who wishes to join the Altar Servers must first be a communicant and a devout Christian. The discipline in the Association was thus that parents, whose children were ‘thick-headed’, would send such children to join the Altar Servers in order to be disciplined. There exist, even now, a perceived consensus among many that Altar Servers would always become priests, partly because of their closeness to priests and to the Altar.

EL-RUFAI, THE MAKING OF A MAN WITH A STRONG WILL.

Born on 16th February 1960 in Daudawa, Faskari local government Area of Katsina State, Mallam Ahmad Nasri El-rufai, is not one of the favorites for my admiration. I had to halt reading his account on his years of public service, “The Accidental Public Servant”, because of the rampant self-serving and praise singing contained in it.

But today, I am not in the least concerned about what he has to say about himself, but what I personally have to say about him since he emerged the Governor of Kaduna State.

During the electioneering campaign, one of the analysts categorized him as being a member of the elitist school of thought. A school of thought that is more concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of the elites than with the welfare of the majority of the populace. I somehow bought the idea, given his past attitude as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He had to ask poor persons to leave Abuja.

During the campaigns, he joined the party of change Ambassadors, lambasting past administrations in Kaduna and accusing them of mortgaging the future of the people of Kaduna. He did not mince words in stating that he would prune down the bureaucracy of government and shut down leakages. He has just done that.

IF THIS BE THE CHANGE, THEN IT IS UNINTERESTING.  By James Onyebuchi C.

IF THIS BE THE CHANGE, THEN IT IS UNINTERESTING.
 By James Onyebuchi C.

I managed to survive the heart attack that almost greeted me at the pre-declaration of President Buhari as the number one citizen of Nigeria. Well documented and even flying on air are my ills towards the person of Buhari and the platform on which he ran for his Presidency. But he is the president. It could not be more or less than this. So, it was imperative upon me to adjust since I could not and am incapable of changing the situation - He is indeed my President. But my expectations were high.

The antiphon in between the APC's litany of promises or in the main, that underlined the numerous campaign promises of APC was 'changi' (change).  Nigerians, apparently, needed, beckoned and voted for change. And Hallelujah to the heavens (though it could possibly not be), change came and is here. But the question is: How far change? My expectations are still high.

APC, by all means clinched to power.  The tune suddenly changed. They began to realise that Nigeria's problems are so numerous  that they could not be solved just in four years. Even the Messiah himself realised that he never had such miraculous powers that could in a few years put Nigeria to glory and to the jealous of the whole world. My expectations began to loose strength.

When the erstwhile president Jonathan called  for patience from Nigerians, the word was immediately mistaken for a vice and as such impossible amongst Nigerians. Oh, the right man; the Nigerian messiah; Buhari then asked for patience, then it became a virtue. Nigerians clapped their hands and celebrated this. Much was to come  in and out of third antiphon - 'I belong to Nobody and to everybody'.

The inauguration came. Undoubtedly and as expected, drew men of value across and within borders. Almost all, renewed their pledge and support for the newest government. Nigerians congratulated him. Oh! His directions to relocate the defence headquarters to Borno was a sign that actions have begun. Change has begun. My expectations were enlivened.

Ecstasy became the oxygen 'almost' every Nigerian breathed. The inauguration speech became a point of discourse among the electronic media commentators. But people like me who made the word "almost", possible as used above, saw nothing different in both the ceremony and the speech. Thanks to Balarabe Musa, the former governor of old Kaduna for not being driven by the illusive 'changi'. His skepticism was unambiguously pronounced. For him, there was no fundamental difference or quantum shift in the system, government and even person. His words seem to carry weight as the events that followed up days after the inauguration confirmed his point.

Saturday came, Sunday and up till this moment, key officials are yet to be named. Presidential fleet came to function and usefulness. What Jonathan did when he reached out for regional aid in the fight against Boko Haram which Many Nigerians including the incumbent condemned, turned around to be the right thing. The rate at which Bombs are detonated even at the powerful and evocative sound of  second the antiphon 'Sai Buhari' became wild.

The one reigning now is the asset declaration which in my opinion in unnecessary and already blown out of proportion. If he lies in the declaration, will I know? Just few days ago, it was discovered that Buhari has a property at Asokoro in Abuja which worths about  2Billion of Naira. So what about the only 2 bedroom house at Daura? My expectations wane.

Some people started returning from their self exile. And others submitting themselves to EFCC. Festus Keyamo, a learned wig, and an advocate to Fed. Government on the corruption charges against former governor Sylvia washes his hands off the case even as the federal government withdrew the case. My expectations water down all the more.

I do not wish to waste time over the events unfolding in the APC over the leadership of the 8th Senate. Tuesday will settle the matter.

But wait! This is a week and two days. What has changed? If anything, does it or do they interest you? For me, the topic of this writing have answer to this question. How about you?

#Godwin

Fellow Nigerians, Change is Here.

Many Nigerians must have forgotten that Nigeria now has a new government. The rigors and vigors of the electionering having been over and the amicable transitional period.

It is now not funny nor new to find the sheer 'I-resolve-to-fate' attitude among the people. It is expected, it is a given.

Our dear president has succeeded in keeping us in a sea of patience and expectations. One week on, he has not named key appointments, nor said anything about that. We're people of patience, we wait on him.

Just yesterday, the APC conducted a mock primaries for it's Senators and representatives elect, and they chose or rather kind of elected Senator Lawan of Yobe north and Rep. Femi Gbajambiaja as the concensus candidates for the senate and House of Representatives respectively.

While some has hailed the process, some others condemned it, especially those who were won in the election.

There are very strong indications that there are internal wrangling and the likes within the APC which if not sorted out, the 8th Assembly may be immersed into an ocean of confusion and disarray.

Some of us are very poor students if history. Back forward to 1999, when the PDP government wanted to form the new National Assembly principal officers. The conflict of interests and the absence of pure reason caused series of impeachments of principal officers in the house. I just wish it will not be the case this time.

As we wait for events to unfold, let us know that change is here.

Kaosisochukwu Is One!

Such days as this reminds me of those very wonderful days of yore, 'in deibus eius' when we had birthday celebrations. It was always a wonderful, scintillating experience

Today, it was the turn of Kosi, a wonderfully and fearfully made child. Today it clocks exactly one year of his birth.

The large turn out surmarised  the goodwill of people to both Kosi and his parents. It was simply wonderful.

The party kick-started around 2pm with an opening prayer said by one of the kids. I was moved at his prayers. He started with a hymn I praise and thanksgiving to God. He prayed for the success of the event, for good life, long life and prosperity on the celebrant, for God's blessings on everyone who was present and finally he concluded with the grace.

I was moved that in this era when people tend to forget the importance and the place of prayer in the life of a Christian, this little boy was able to present, unprepared, a wonderful prayer. Kudos must be given to the parents for a work well done.

The choir was on hand and gave a wonderful rendition. They were in a word, marvelous!

It was then, food time.... Your guess is as good as mine.

Happy Birthday Kosisochukwu!!!

My Real Guy; Your Birthday, Our Happiness

I, freely waited for such time as this to make my own contribution to this epoch day, the Birthday of an intellectual guru, a sagacious sage, a man of timber and caliber, a loquacious and audacious gentleman- Chima Joseph Nwagwu!

Today, I recount how I came to be privileged to know him. It's a divine arrangement! He was just himself, simple, refined, always studious. I usually saw him in the orchard studying after lectures. That was him! He has a balanced personality, in spirituality, sports, and other works of life.

I came to know him more through my very good brother, Owelle CJ Banky. It was like the completion of a trinitarian Union.

Chima would always rationally demonstrate his indept knowledge of reality. I'm honoured to be a party to this historic day.

As you celebrated your birthday today, I wish you the best of lucks in this life, happiness and fulfilment, success and joy. Amen

Happy Birthday, Buddy!!!

"I Belong To Everybody and I Belong To Nobody"

The above was the words of the incumbent and new President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural speech.

The contents of this inaugural speech was anything but non-wonderful! It was superb, excellent, articulative and well rendered. It captioned the very troubling and grey areas of the yelling of Nigerians. I commend his backroom staff for the speech. It was well written.

I, for one, am not a fan of Buhari, bit as my President, I owe him respect and cooperation. I waited for 24 hours in order to air my view on yesterday's proceedings. The peaceful handover was historic.

Goodluck Ebere Jonathan must be commended for his Statesmanship. I do not personally think that I can do that which he did. His presence at the venue and his symbolic transfer of power was the highpoint of my admiration for him. Even Buhari was overwhelmed as he poured encomiums on the President in his speech.

At the inaugural gala, I was somehow disappointed. The APC said the country was in shambles and the economy was sick, but they accepted the gala and ate and drank....even as the economy was still sick!

But, I'm hopeful that the meal was to get themselves energized for the task ahead. I just hope so.

The presence of Obasanjo was very much expected, and the referral to him by Dickson was expected, even when we all know what is true. I hope to see how his romance with APC shall end. That is story for another day!

The first act of office was relocation of Army Headquarters. It's a step in the right direction. I hope it yields the desired result.

I must stop here due to lack of space. But I'll not end without wishing the new President and his team a successful tenure.

God bless Nigeria!!!

All Hail The Peoples' General!

Yes, the D-Day is coming. The historic day for which thousands have waited for; the 29th Day of May, 2015.

A contributor in one of the leading national dailies termed tomorrow, "Buhari's Day". Of course it sounds like that to the ears of those of us who are waiting in deep and serious expectation of the "Nigerian Political Messiah".

The topic of this short piece was coined from one of the prominent names which Gen... Ehhhm, - I guess it stops today- Buhari was called during the electioneering campaigns. I was sad he's not gonna keep the name! Whatever happens, he is The Peoples' General!

Many Nigerians are patiently waiting for tomorrow to come. A day on which they'll be liberated from every form of trouble, pains, difficulties and life threatening situations. Buhari is the key, Buhari is the Answer!

Hurray, at last the Boko Haram menace, the theft and kidnappings, the frequent clash between the Fulani herdsmen and the 'agricolae' shall be a things of the past; that is  top notch Security!

Further, our moribund and comatose economy would come alive and out do those of the first world! The Naira equalling the dollar in value and our being the largest economy in Africa translating into food for us, food on our tables!

Oh! Education will be free, our school children will receive free lunch, The youth corpers who were unable to find jobs after serving will be paid for one year, our universities will return to being the citadel of learning and it will be needless engaging in 'Academic Tourism'...Ghana must be sad, there'll be a reduced influx of students from Nigeria by Tomorrow!

The era of conservatism in the management of the resources of the state is over! Nigeria will strangulate corruption! Fare thee well oh corruption! The General has come!!!
All those who stole our money under any guise at all will be brought to book, the cost of governance reduced and NNPC unbundled! Waow!!! The cabals of the power sector and the oil sector, your field days are over! Nigeria is free at last!!!

I have litanies of expectations just like every Nigerian. In the coming days, they'll unfold.

The triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and Jesus' subsequent crucifixion shows on strong terms the nature of man. The same mouth that was used to praise, was also used to vilify. It is simple, Mr. Buhari, get ready for the pot with which you and your party APC used to cook for others, will be used to cook for you and the party. The recent blame game and downplaying of expectations will not, can never and shall not save you; get to work!!!

All Hail The Peoples' General!!!

Nigeria, A Country On Auto Pilot

I woke up yesterday, as any other living being and set out on my journey towards the search of life.

My journey led me to certain places and certain people. This is not as much concern to me as to the journey back home.

Due to some constraints, I had to start coming back later than I budgeted. And that was if I should say, suicidal!

The transport fares tripled! There was siege on the few filling stations, and black markets. A litre of fuel in the filling stations was N180 and black market was N200 and above.

You could imagine how it was Meeting such situation, unprepared. You just have no option, you either hop in and quietly gnash your teeth, or you stay put where you stood, stranded under the cold and with the night coming.

I hopped in, kept my peace and listened to the agony of the common man. There was no hope - even at the thought of the change of government. What I saw was sheer hopelessness, the feeling of a country without a leader, just like a plane in auto pilot mode.

The epileptic power supply in the country many ran away from by making use of 'I pass my neighbour' - generator...., but lo, even getting the fuel for this generator is almost impossible.

As I was about making my conclusion, texts from MTN and Airtel came in. They may not sustain their base stations nationwide if there are no fuel! It came like a shock! What else?, I asked myself- absolutely nothing!

Respite in form of a press release by the CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, Chief Ifeanyi Uba, came, but I doubt it'll go a long way, moreover, that is, if he succeeds in that quest.

I really do not know how to conclude.... I can only repose my hope in God. He only can save this country from Chaos, anarchy and doom.

Save Us O Lord!!!

Igbos and The Reality Of Relevance In Nigerian Politics; My View.

I begin this on a note of clarification in order to avoid misreading, and unfair interpretation. The views expressed here are 'personally personal'.

I'll like to be straight to the point here. For long, the igbos have clamored for inclusion, relevance and a place in the political equation of Nigeria, but it does' seem' to me, to be one project, unrealizable! The general view of the Igbos as "kingless'' for me, is seriously affecting us. If this is not the case, what then, can explain the fact that there's no prominent Igbo man, who we can 'project' as our leader?

A dire need for repositioning of our lives

Prolegomenon:
The undue impacts or place of some odorous social misconducts like promiscuity, unwanted pregnancy, abortion, examination malpractice, youth revolt, gangsterism, cultism and many more others in teaching and learning in teacher’s education have been the central disturbing deliberations of most erudite scholars down the progressively intellectually decaying centuries. As such, this has constituted an obvious earthquake, and in a greater degree-a sort of tsunami which has, and is already engulfing us all alive. This rather predicted maladies have foundationally shaken and surcharged our nation’s teaching and learning domains. In addition, sexual promiscuity, cultism and examinations have turned out to gain much disciples than ever. With this on increase, the system of teaching and learning has degraded to such a level that it calls for intellectual redemption and salvation since the ‘sacraments’ holding them together have fallen apart. This engenders a dangerous deceleration in the growth of science and technology which will/may eventually crash-land us into lack of development founded on intellectual bankruptcy. Moreover, t

Yes, This is Her, from whom I took Flesh!

Today is mothering Sunday, or simply put, mothers' day.

Sincerely, I count myself privileged to be among the many who still have a symbol and epitome of love and affection, eminently personified in mothers!

I would like to commiserate with those who have lost their mothers, especially at very tender age, those who do not know their mothers and the motherless babies. A day like today is always not fashionable for you, but, rejoice in the joys of having our Sweet Mother Mary, who is Mother Per excellence; the Ideal Mother!

Here lies a better future?

With the results of the State elections tripping in from different states of the federation. Although it is still hard to say, it does look like APC will carry the day in the North and Southwest.

It is rumored that Seen. Alhassan, a woman won in Taraba- if this is true, then it becomes the first time a woman is elected governor in Nigeria. Most of us would have thought a state like Taraba would lead the way in such a manner(although Anambra state had a stint of a female governor in Etiaba). I would have thought Lagos would have led the way!

Ekiti state and Fayose is rumored to have won all 26 seats in Ekiti State. I hope this would prevent him from being impeached. In as much as I may not like 'wholly' the personality of the man, Fayose, he has proved that he's a man to reckon with wnen it comes to politicking and politics in Nigeria.

Legs are crossed and mouths are wagging on the outcome of the elections. I'm patiently waiting for the Final results from INEC!

GOD BLESS YOU!!!

A RETURN TO THE OLD WAYS

Today, the 36 states of the federation was agog with nationwide elections. It was battle, from the reports available to us. There was reports of daredevil snatching of ballot boxes and papers. The question is, why this brazen act of irrationality?

The last presidential election and it's outcome may have contributed to this present acts of violence. The two dominant political parties and other 'small' political parties want to assert their superiority over one another. This is the final battle! It has to be worn!

A BLOATED CELEBRATION: MUST LIFES BE LOST?

The presidential election has come and gone, but the outcome is still there with us. I am concerned with the mannerism of celebration which is wild, unthoughtful and belated. For the records, I am not against celebrations, nor am I against loud celebrations, but any celebration which costs the lives of Nigerians is not worth celebrating.

After the announcement of the results by the Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there was wild jubilation all over Nigeria, especially in the Northern Part of Nigeria and APC controlled states. Yes, there got to be celebrations! But, a situation whereby scores of Nigerians have to lose their lives in celebrating just a win in an election is seriously uncalled for. It should be resisted with vehemence. The lives of Nigerians are worth more than dying-in-celebration.

AFRICAN LIFE: A SECOND CLASS LIFE?

This blog was set up to address issues such as this. In the last few months, I have had recourse to ask myself so many questions especially as regards the nature of what I would like to call “African Life”. African life as used here is the totality of an African, the place of Africa in the committee of nations and the sanctity of human life in African perspective.

Majorly, my worries about the neglect of Africa stems from the wave of terrorism all over the world and the response of the world to them. Some days ago, over 140 ‘innocent’ students were killed in Garissa university in Kenya. The world was almost silent on this issue – there was no worldwide outcry as was the case in France months ago, when there was a terror attack in Charlie Hebdo.

I recall that on that day and days following the Charlie Hebdo attack, world leaders and even African leaders were swift to condemn the killings, and even converged in Paris for a solidarity rally. It was swift, resounding response. Nobody blamed the France government for not protecting the lives of those who were murdered in that attack, no one blamed the security agencies for not securing the lives of those who were lost on that day; rather, the world was in unison in condemning in strong terms, such action.  The response was such that the culprits were apprehended days later, and those who abetted them were apprehended.
In Africa, it is a different thing all together. The book haram terrorists killed hundreds of people in baga within the time of the Charlie Hebdo attack, but that was not given a significant voice or appraisal. Then, talk about the Boston bombing and the murder of a policeman in UK, all these received worldwide condemnation.

A VOICE SPEAKS!

Hearing such voice as this gets me excited and spurs me more towards the Life Project.

Kamsi, wrote O Mother of Jesus Christ the Savior, be with me. The unjust sit on our wealth as leaders of the people: they have taken our wealth; they have imported inflation, our wealth they have devalued. This evil thrives knowingly, public and private with no abiding piety or mercy. This evil infects our human veins like the people of Gomorrah.

WHAT A GENERATION OF DARKNESS
women climb women and seek for marriage and love, men seek  men in search of sex and love. The foolishness of Sodom and the tramp of their iniquities. The love of money has become d root of all evil, blood money is counted among the rich. Counterfeit men fill d cities with d dung of their crimes.

The church is in sorrow of overburdened crimes. The unjust, O Lord have bewitched your people. Sorcerers and occultists set traps to enslave the innocent. They have no peace but desire for evil; deadly diseases have befallen our time, cancer tears our skins and ligaments with no cure, AIDS make dry fresh bones of the people and deadly flu takes birds and men alike. To whom shall we go to O Lord?, you have the message of eternal life!

We have need for a leader as Cyrus of old; a king as David, one who rules in dominions of your
Kingdom; who has fear of You that our nation may be freed form captivity.

Jesus put a stir to the world that sons of men will live again in the fear of God AMEN

BEYOND THIS SUFFERING

The Christians all over the world do commemorate the sufferings death and resurrection of Jesus. This particular celebration is usually announced by the Arch Wednesday, where by using ash, the Christians are reminded that they are dusts and to dust they shall return.

Christ the Son of God came down and suffered for us, that we may have life – not just life, but life to its fullness. Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example; to follow in his steps!

CHRIST’S PASSION: after the rain comes the sun!
One of the most construed words in Christendom is the notion of ‘suffering’. While some Christians see suffering as a necessity, towards the attainment of Eternal glory, others see it as an evil, a deprivation, a curse. But Christ taught us, by His suffering, that the way of the cross is the perfect way to Him. Thus he enjoins us that if anyone loves him, let him in humility take up his cross – daily – and follow Him!

It has become a norm, from the length and breadth of Christendom, for Preachers of the Gospel (although one has to question what actually they preach), to preach posterity, non-suffering, an easy life. These persons fail to understand the place of suffering, not just in Christianity, but in every meaningful endeavour.

At the fall of man, God left man to his means, to fend for himself, to live by himself. Thus, suffering and strife became part and parcel of man’s life. The point here is that man did not have to suffer to perpetuity, but that for every success, man has to work for it.

There abound in life, numerous experiences, where suffering leads to success, freedom and progress; Jesus is our first example!

Jesus came and suffered, he was obedient, even to death on the cross. For this reason, he was glorified. Christ’s glory was brought to the fore, when He overcame the powers of death and rose from the grave – a mighty triumph! As if that was not enough, he ascended into heaven with a [promise of the Advocate, The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.

LESSONS FOR US
We must learn as Christians that the way of the cross, though not an easy road, is the best way to glory. Experiences have shown, that achievements which are hard-fought, are more pleasurable than those who are gotten on a platter of gold.
As we journey with Christ in these remaining days, may we die with him to sin and to suffering, and consequently rise with Him in Glory to a new life of Glory and Happiness – Amen!!!

2815 Presidential Election: My Take Away

The 2015 general elections may have come and gone, but the commentaries and analysis of thre elections and its outcome will linger on for quite some time.
The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, the winner of the keenly contested elections. I have one or two things as take away from this election.
1.        The votes was widely cast according to ethnic lines
2.       The Northern and South westerners used their high voting population to the advantage of the APC
3.       The 2015 election can be described as the freest and fairest of elections in Nigeria
4.       The statesmanship and shrewdness of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, was astonishing. He proved all doubters wrong and just like a Samurai, he showed, practically, that his words are his bond; history will be very kind to him
5.       The President, by his act of humility, has made himself, the Father of Modern democracy in Nigeria
6.       The APC has preached change, we await their having to practicalize change

The Electoral umpire, Prof. Attahiru Jega should be commended for the mannerism of his conduct of the elections. He rose above all odds and pressures, to show tht integrity is not lack of opportunity, but a free choice!!!
