Today is mothering Sunday, or simply put, mothers' day.

Sincerely, I count myself privileged to be among the many who still have a symbol and epitome of love and affection, eminently personified in mothers!

I would like to commiserate with those who have lost their mothers, especially at very tender age, those who do not know their mothers and the motherless babies. A day like today is always not fashionable for you, but, rejoice in the joys of having our Sweet Mother Mary, who is Mother Per excellence; the Ideal Mother!

Here lies a better future?

With the results of the State elections tripping in from different states of the federation. Although it is still hard to say, it does look like APC will carry the day in the North and Southwest. 

It is rumored that Seen. Alhassan, a woman won in Taraba- if this is true, then it becomes the first time a woman is elected governor in Nigeria. Most of us would have thought a state like Taraba would lead the way in such a manner(although Anambra state had a stint of a female governor in Etiaba). I would have thought Lagos would have led the way!

Ekiti state and Fayose is rumored to have won all 26 seats in Ekiti State. I hope this would prevent him from being impeached. In as much as I may not like 'wholly' the personality of the man, Fayose, he has proved that he's a man to reckon with wnen it comes to politicking and politics in Nigeria.

Legs are crossed and mouths are wagging on the outcome of the elections. I'm patiently waiting for the Final results from INEC!

A RETURN TO THE OLD WAYS

Today, the 36 states of the federation was agog with nationwide elections. It was battle, from the reports available to us. There was reports of daredevil snatching of ballot boxes and papers. The question is, why this brazen act of irrationality?

The last presidential election and it's outcome may have contributed to this present acts of violence. The two dominant political parties and other 'small' political parties want to assert their superiority over one another. This is the final battle! It has to be worn!

A BLOATED CELEBRATION: MUST LIFES BE LOST?

The presidential election has come and gone, but the outcome is still there with us. I am concerned with the mannerism of celebration which is wild, unthoughtful and belated. For the records, I am not against celebrations, nor am I against loud celebrations, but any celebration which costs the lives of Nigerians is not worth celebrating.

After the announcement of the results by the Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there was wild jubilation all over Nigeria, especially in the Northern Part of Nigeria and APC controlled states. Yes, there got to be celebrations! But, a situation whereby scores of Nigerians have to lose their lives in celebrating just a win in an election is seriously uncalled for. It should be resisted with vehemence. The lives of Nigerians are worth more than dying-in-celebration.
